majorWe finally did it. Black Rose Shipyard has released the largest ship you can build and still be called a "medium class". Sporting 12 guns, Insolente is not a ship you take lightly. Two bow chasers, four guns per side, and two stern chasers make this an all around arsenal of red hot iron. Based on a series of ships commissioned by Catherine the Great, Insolente is what is called a "Demi Shebec". Her foremast is completely Shebec, but her mainmast holds a purely northern european rig -including a square sail to help her move smartly downwind. Originally designed to fight the Swedes, these ships were made to fight in the tidally locked Baltic. This means a shallow draft and deft maneuvering to avoid the rocks and small islands that infest both the Baltic Sea and Gulf of Bothnia. While the Russo-Swedish war was of no major consequence for the parties involved, it did give us this beautifully designed ship that is a delight to sail into battle.

While she has been approved for a while, it has been a busy time here at Black Rose both in world and in real life, so we are slow in getting this updated Furia out to the public.
You will find a ship that looks very much like the original, but has a much lower Land Impact (90 instead of 157) and we have evened out her performance to keep her from being dead slow running with the wind and and too quick when hard on it. This should make her an all around better ship. After a longish wait, Jing Ti is finally approved and in the vendors and on the Marketplace. This small 8 gun ship that I refer to as a "cutter" is the asian Counterpart to Diligente. With two guns on the bow, two on the stern, and two on each side, she can defend or go on the offensive to all quarters.
Japanese for "Vigilant", Jing To is certainly that. Antiquity and Pirated Destiny have both now fully approved Kogan for sailing in their waters and the ship is now for sale on both the Marketplace and in my vendors. Stay tuned to see what ship is going to slide into the water next at Black Rose.
Next in Black Rose Shipyard's series of Asian ships, we have the 10 gun Kōgan 厚顔. With a name meaning "Audacity" in Japanese, Kōgan 厚顔 certainly looks the part. Two bow chasers to hunt down your prey as they try to run, four guns a side for a devastating broadside, leeboards that work the same as square sails, allowing you back sail, and of course those eyes that allow the ship to see where she is going and bring you back safely.
Coming at a very affordable 1400L, if you are a fan of asian styled ships, this one is a bargain at this price. I hope you can forgive me a small liberty in putting this transcript together. I removed all of the SL junk that appears in chat and moved a couple of posts around to keep them together. Posts that went together were also grouped into paragraphs instead of individual lines to make it easier to read. Jacon Cortes de Bexar: Good afternoon everyone. Today.....as the sun shined upon the waters of antiquity....the common sight of sails....and gunsmoke in the distance....we were missing some sails
These are times.....that weigh heavy on me....the gathering of our community....our family....to bid farewell...to a beloved member. In our short time in SL.....we grow bonds....that inter twine like roots..... the closer the stronger. And bonds....that are a decade or more longer.......are at its tightest I was a shock...to hear of Amandas passing, and from the faces here today.....it is a testament to her Through all the years.....I have been here.....she has been a force on the waters. Something...we will all miss I should also like to mention.....her ongoing dedication to hosting battles she hosted here.....and never failed....again....a true sign of character On behalf of myself personally....and the Royal Family and Admins of Antiquity....I offer our most sincere condolences to her partner Sandrine.......our heart is heavy with yours Sandrine Dallin-Vanbeeck *cries* Jacon Cortes de Bexar : if anyone would like to say a few words.... Sandrine Dallin-Vanbeeck : yes, please In the night to the 23th of May, I lost my beloved wife, my partner in crime, my soulmate, my rock in the unsteady breaking of waves ... the light of my nights, the hope of my days. For almost 14 1/2 years, we were a unit. I miss every single second of this time ... with no exception. This is way more you can say about another human, than usual and describes the relation in a perfect way. The night before 2 days, I got the certainty, the dull feeling became brutal reality. Now there is nothing left but a dark, cold, deep and empty hole in my soul. No words can ever express my grief ! The cruel fate just blew out my life light. Amanda was my world ... and my world is dead now. I hope she´ll find peace ... wherever she is now. Life is energy and energy can never be lost. It will always be transformed. Maybe her energy will transformed to something she love. I hope so much. Your loving wife, San.... Calla Iris Waydelich: T_T Trinity Claymore wipes tears from her eyes randy Thor : I would like to speak a moment please. most of you know me. You may have felt the sting of our cannons. It was my distinct privilege to be the gunner with amanda, we were the mightiest team to sail. Calla Iris Waydelich: Hear hear! randy Thor: it has always been my privilege to sail with the lot of you here and please know how much we enjoyed engaging in battles here with all of you who sailed. Kazuka: Indeed randy Thor: i know this means an incredible amount to me and i hope for all of you here today. thank you for coming and being here today in her honor! I will miss her forever. T rinity Claymore: I'd like to say something please Trinity Claymore hugs San Sandrine Dallin-Vanbeeck *hugs* Trinity Claymore: Amanda was one of my best friends. She and I spent many days together talking for hours, I was even honored to join her in some battles as a gunner. I could listen to her talk with such passion about the navy and pirate life while she worked on her ships. She even introduce me to Jo who also became another very special person in my life. Though today, I am filled with sadness as my friend is gone. I loved her dearly. I thank you for being a community that brought her joy Jacon Cortes de Bexar: thank you. Would anyone else like to say anything? Calla Iris Waydelich: Yes, please. Jacon Cortes de Bexar: ok..:) Calla Iris Waydelich nods to Sandrine. :( Truly Amanda was a force of nature. On the high seas, she was relentless. She fought hard, she fought with honor, showing all of us respect both as friends and as opponents. Trinity Claymore nods Calla Iris Waydelich: She was not afraid of leaving her comfort zone, to stand up for those weaker, and call out wrongs when she saw them, regardless of their allegiances. Off the battlefield ...she was tender, she was earnest. She didn't just make friends, she cultivated us. She was always so respectful toward my wife and my daughters, my officers, crew, and friends. When the towers and markets of my homeland crumbled in spectacular disaster, she encouraged me to be brave and committed as I was tasked to raise it back from the ashes, and came back time and again for our many festive events, taking time to know all of us, and us her. She did not turn away when I chose to transition in both Second Life and First Life, instead staying beside me and walking with me as I took those first vulnerable, painful steps towards my authentic, happier self. That means a lot to me. I am so pained that after at least a decade knowing each other, we must part ways now in this journey called life, and my heart goes out to Sandrine, and Amanda's family, by blood and by oath. I want to believe that we will see each other again. Thank you for everything, Admiral. And godspeed. We all love you and we always will. Thank you. Trinity Claymore: thank you, Calla Helena Wells: So true Sandrine Dallin-Vanbeeck *cries* Jennifer Law: Please, I would like to leave a few words for my dear Amanda. Admiral Amanda received me with open arms with affection and kindness when I came to Antiquity. It has been almost three years that I have had the honor of living with Amanda. Despite my difficulty in learning the art of battle as I'm not native and I needed a translator almost always. She always guided me with patience that was peculiar to her when I made mistakes and praised myself the few times I got it right and I have enormous gratitude for her. Her passing was a shock to me and certainly everyone in the Antiquity and Pirates Destiny community. Rest in Peace Amanda and may God welcome you to her heavenly mansion. Thank you so much! Jacon Cortes de Bexar:thank you Jennifer Helena Wells: Amen Calla Iris Waydelich: Hear hear. Trinity Claymore: thank you, Jennifer Kazuka: hugs Jen Jennifer Law: Hugs Kaz!! Jacon Cortes de Bexar: Xi Xi Larnia: It was over ten years ago that Amanda inducted me into both the Navy and into this world the high seas. In this time I watched as she made all of you feel special in one way or another. I knew her as my commander, my confidant, my co-conspirator in designing ships, and my most of all, as my friend. To judge by the conversations I have had with many of you these past few days, everyone has a story to tell of Amanda. While it matters not if you were friend or foe on the high seas, she was all friend when the battle had cleared of smoke Rockin': I must go.. Rest in Peace Amanda Xi Larnia: She had a gentleness to her that made you feel like you were the centre of her world when you spoke, her attention never wavered from your conversation. She was there in a way I wish all people could be. Trinity Claymore nods Xi Larnia: The Name Amanda means Huggable. I wish I could give her one right now. Calla Iris Waydelich: So true. Sandrine Dallin-Vanbeeck: If anyone feels the need to write something about Amanda ... feel free to do so here https://community.secondlife.com/forums/topic/472563-amanda-dallin-vanbeeck-is-gone-for-ever/?tab=comments#comment-2301824 or here as well https://blackroseshipyard.weebly.com/news/amanda-dallin Feel free to spread this to the ones who haven´t heard of the drama, so far. Persepone Voss: From my school of beliefs I'd just like to say.... May the very honourable and loveliest of beings Amanda Dallin-Vanbeeck Rise In Power , shining as she ascends as she did in life, missed by us all never to be forgotten Xx Jacon Cortes de Bexar: would anyone else like to say anything..... Rei Woodland: me Jacon Cortes de Bexar: go ahead Persepone Voss:Lovely to hear all the tributes , I have to leave now , all take care Xx Rei Woodland: Salutes to her Admiral. Amanda is one of the people who reached out to me when I was lost. I used to be a pirate here and when my members disbanded, she saw me practicing my ship. I learned how to sail through Joawny, she taught me how to sail too and at the first meet, she offered me to join her in the Conti. Outside the battle we talk a lot about the things she enjoyed in sl and how i can do better in sailing, she's like a big sister/mentor to me and she always look out for everyone. Sandrine, we talked about you before she passed, on how she's very fortunate to meet you and have someone like you in this world. She opened up to me about you when I told her that I am marrying my love here and she has so much good things and thoughts about you, Trinity, Rain and Xi. How she's fortunate that she has her family here. And to her, The Conti is her loved family too. I miss her so much, she even promised me she will be at out wedding next week and will not miss it. But she's gone and I pinched myself thinking that what Pin said was not true but it is. May we all continue to sail for her. I love you Amanda and thank you for always watching out for me and Cortes and everyone you call family. Sandrine Dallin-Vanbeeck *cries* Trinity Claymore: Thank you, Rei Cara Cali: Amanda was a beacon and a light. She drew people in, and for me talking with her always made things clearer, adn brought out the best in me and the others around her. I can't think of a higher testimonial. May her light continue to live in hearts. Jacon Cortes de Bexar: anyone else? A quick word and we will head out to the grave site. She was a true light indeed...the heartfelt words today are proof of that if everyone would follow me...outside Jacon Cortes de Bexar: I chose this spot...as it was next to Admiral Jo Sandrine Dallin-Vanbeeck: she would love this... Trinity Claymore: yes, she would have Cara Cali: They both would Jacon Cortes de Bexar: for as long as Antiquity.....is here...our memories will be here too Kat: nice, Jacon Calla Iris Waydelich: We are never truly gone, until the last who remembered us are gone, as well. Kazuka: Her and Jo together again Trinity Claymore: cries. thank you so much for this randy Thor: yes jacon thank you so much for all of this, it is so moving and memorable Jennifer Law: Thank you so much Jacon! Calla Iris Waydelich : Eternal Father, strong to save, whose arm doth bind the restless wave... Who bids the mighty ocean deep, its own appointed limits keep, O, hear us when we cry to thee, for those in peril on the sea! Jacon Cortes de Bexar: I am happy I could help Helena Wells: Yes glad she is next to J. She would have loved that Pamus Bing: Amanda is etched upon all our memories, her spirit will still sail Antiquity waters Jacon Cortes de Bexar: I think the weekly Admiral Jo battle should be renamed.....to.....the Admirals Battle.....in honor of them both Trinity Claymore: that would be such a honor Otho Compton: excellent idea Kazuka: I can offer a song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35mJvcY104M randy Thor: great idea! Calla Iris Waydelich: ;_; Rei Woodland: Our apologies but I need to log for rl now and Cortes too. Thank you for having us here and Blessed be to all Jacon Cortes de Bexar:thank you for coming Otho Compton: be well rei Jacon Cortes de Bexar: I would like to thank everyone for coming As many have probably already heard, The Lady behind Amanda Dallin passed away quietly in her sleep sometime in the early morning hours on Sunday May 23. While I cannot comment on what she left behind in real life, but here in Second Life she leaves behind many friends. From her time in her New Orleans Sim, to all those she fought with and against here on the high seas. The very last of the Continental Navy founders, she will leave behind a legacy friendship, cannonballs, and an online family that would have done anything for her and vice versa. From Lord Tennyson: unset and evening star And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar, When I put out to sea, But such a tide as moving seems asleep, Too full for sound and foam, When that which drew from out the boundless deep Turns again home. Twilight and evening bell, And after that the dark! And may there be no sadness of farewell, When I embark; For though from out our bourne of Time and Place The flood may bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot face to face When I have crossed the bar. Farewell dear friend, I hope we meet again on the wide open seas, where swords my cross and cannonballs fly, but there will always be a mug to be shared with thee.
Kōgan 厚顔 Japanese for Audacity Is a Brig sized ship, carrying two bow chasers and four guns on each side in the broadside position. Using Leeboards instead of squares like Xi'an, she can also be back sailed.
The refit for Libertà has been approved and is now in the vendors and Marketplace for purchase. If you had previously bought the original Libertà you should have gotten an update by now. If you did not, please get in contact with me for it.
As I alluded to in remarking of the build of Narcissus, this is in Insolanté, our first 12 gun ship. Two bow chasers, Four cannons on each broadside, and two stern chasers will make this a formidable ship once testing and sea trials are complete.
